March 25, 2010 - AVENUE Q Makes FLINT Debut

AVENUE Q is the smash-hit Broadway musical about real life in New York City, as told by a cast of people and puppets through a hilariously irreverent, Tony-winning book and score. The three-time Tony Award winning musical will make the Flint debut at the The Whiting on April 25, 2010.

February 25, 2010 - KENNY WAYNE SHEPHERD

Kenny Wayne Shepherd has lived more than half of his life in the spotlight. At the age of at 16, he was signed to a major record label. While a senior in high school, he recorded his first album and while most of his classmates were looking for a part time summer job after graduation, Kenny was embarking on a world tour. Now, at only 31 years old, he has sold millions of albums worldwide, received four Grammy nominations, two Billboard Music Awards, two Orville H. January 27, 2010 - DISNEY’S BEAUTY AND THE BEAST

Disney’s Beauty and the Beast is the classic story of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped in a spell placed by an enchantress.  If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed to his former self. But time is running out. If the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity.

January 14, 2010 - The Mikado

Directed by renowned British G&S specialist Richard Sheldon, this production, complete with sets, costumes, full chorus and orchestra, frequently plays to capacity houses and has won outstanding acclaim – “a first-rate performance, full of humor, beautiful music and sharp theatricality.”  Richard Sheldon will star in the title role (“a more humane Mikado”) for which he has been described as “unusually terrifying but quite hilarious.”

Cedric has played with some of the great family names in Creole music, including Dexter Ardoin and the Creole Ramblers and Jeffrey Broussard and the Creole Cowboys. With the Pine Leaf Boys, Cedric expanded his repertoire of Cajun songs while adding his Creole and zydeco foundation to the band's true-to-the-roots Southwest Louisiana sound.

Under the direction of Sergei Radchenko, the Russian National Ballet has focused on upholding the grand national tradition of the major Russian ballet works and developing new talents throughout Russia.  The classic fairytale is presented in three acts and comes to life with lavish costumes, hand-painted backdrops and scenery.

June 18, 2009 -Arts Midwest Grant Brings Native American Music and Dance to The Whiting & Local Schools

The Whiting, a member organization of The Flint Cultural Center Corporation (FCCC), has received a $5,000 grant award from the Arts Midwest Performing Arts Fund that will help to bring the renowned Kevin Locke Native Dance Ensemble to Flint for a five-day residency November 2 – 6, 2009.
