COVID-19
Update as of 7.9.2020
Dear Patron:
We have missed you and hope this finds you and your loved ones safe and well. We have now entered our fourth month without live performances at Whiting or the Capitol Theatre. What we love doing most has been identified among the highest risk activities associated with the spread of COVID-19 –bringing large groups of people together, into enclosed spaces, for long periods of time. Our amazing artists and stage crews work in extremely close proximity to one another. And our patrons like to have fun! Rousing applause, whistling, singing along, dancing and swaying, even hoots and hollers – all highly encouraged and essential to a great experience. Yes, we will have this much fun together again – just not as soon as we’d all like!
The safety and well-being of our patrons, performing artists, staff and volunteers remain our greatest concern and is guiding staff through the process of developing plans for an eventual reopening. We are closely following our state’s public health guidance to help us best anticipate the timing of a restart.
As you know many of the great shows presented on our stages are touring productions and that contributes additional challenges to programming decisions. All of these factors have influenced
We have made the difficult decision to delay the opening of Whiting Auditorium for the upcoming season until January of 2021. You can expect the announcement of the Winter/Spring 2021 Whiting Presents Season in late summer. The opening concert of the Flint Symphony Orchestra’s season has now been moved to February 6 2021.
Within the next few months we hope to start screening movies again at the Capitol Theatre for small audiences. We had a terrific line-up of movies scheduled last spring and those will be the first rescheduled when we reopen.
As always we appreciate your support and thank you for your patience as we navigate this transition period. We look forward to bringing you the wide variety of performing arts experiences you expect
Sincerely,
Managing Executive Director

Update as of 3.24.2020
In light of the most recent recommendations from the CDC and the executive orders of Governor Whitmer, The Whiting, Capitol Theatre, and Flint Institute of Music have extended the suspension of all events and performances through May 31 for groups of 50 or more.
Postponed events: If you have tickets to a performance that has been rescheduled or we hope to reschedule, your tickets are valid for the new date. If you no longer have your tickets, you can get your tickets reprinted for free when the Ticket Center re-opens to the public.
Cancelled events: If you have tickets to performances that have been cancelled your ticket purchase has been placed on account as a credit. As a nonprofit arts organization, we rely heavily on your support. Your donation will help The Whiting/Capitol Theatre, Flint Institute of Music and the Flint Repertory Theatre immensely in these challenging and uncertain times. Your donation will go directly to the organization from which you purchased your tickets
